In the State of Florida - the usage of the terms - "College and/or University" are regulated by law and relevant statutes. Only those educational entities that are authorized to offer professional qualifications may use the term "College or University". As a religious university we are exempt from gubernatorial oversight, but we are authorized, approved and recognized by law and relevant statues of the State of Florida as dictated by the Florida Department of Education, to offer professional qualifications with religious modifiers that are conducive to professional degrees, such as but not limited to,
Associates of Arts (AA) or Associates of Science (ASc.,).
This is an undergraduate qualification at the university level. Usual duration is around (2) years. For Latin American comparison purposes, we could try to equate an associate degree with a Técnico Superior diploma. A "Técnico Superior" degree offered, for example by the "Universidad de Panamá", might be comparable to an associate degree here in the United States, yet it would not be comparable to a "Técnico Superior" diploma, earned for example in Costa Rica. A Técnico Superior degree in Costa Rica - is not considered a true "academic" credential, yet they are considered professional qualifications in Panama, Nicaragua, Colombia, Venezuela, etc.
In the United States an associate degree is usually earned in two years and has at least (60) sixty quarter credits. Are we authorized, approved and recognized to offer Associates degrees - using United States nomenclature? Yes.
Bachelor´s of Arts (BA) or Bachelor´s of Science (BSc.,)
This is an undergraduate qualification at the university level. This could easily be considered the most important degree (usually the longest to earn) to obtain. Usual duration to earn a bachelor’s degree is around (4) years. It is somewhat comparable to a Latin-American "Licenciatura"degree.
A Licenciatura (known as a Licentiate Degree in English) depending upon the country from which it was earned, could actually be a little higher professional qualification than a bachelor’s but less than a master’s degree or if it was earned in Europe, it could be comparable to a master’s degree. Once again, the myriad and infinite web of educational qualifications around the world is enormous. Judges University does not offer "Licenciatura degrees" - directly, since it is not part of the official Florida Department of Education nomenclature. If you see a "Licenciatura / Licentiate" listed or offered on our website - it´s part of a joint educational program with another University. In the United States a bachelor’s degree is usually earned in about four years and has at least (120) one hundred-twenty quarter credits. Are we authorized to offer bachelor’s degrees - using United States nomenclature? Yes.
Master’s degrees
It is an academic degree awarded by universities or colleges upon completion of a course of study demonstrating mastery of a specific field. It can take between 1.5 to 2.0 years of full-time study beyond a bachelor’s degree and at least 60-90 quarter credits or between 36 - 54 semester credits to earn one. Are we authorized to offer master’s degrees - using United States nomenclature? Yes.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.,) or Doctorate of Education (EdD.,)
These are terminal degrees. Usually takes lots of research and at least three years to earn a PhD or EdD. . Are we authorized to offer Doctoral degrees - using United States nomenclature? Yes. We are authorized by the State to offer terminal degrees - both PhD and EdD., in various fields.
